Valcellina, primi del Novecento: una terra di isolamento dove la montagna non regalava nulla e il destino pareva segnato dalla povertà. Eppure, in questo scenario severo, centinaia di donne compivano un viaggio silenzioso ma radicale, spingendo carretti di legno ‘fora pal mont’ verso la pianura e le mai viste città. Erano le sedonere, ambulanti per necessità che, affrontando strade impervie e intemperie, portavano a valle non solo guadagni, ma anche uno sguardo nuovo sul mondo. Il documentario ricostruisce l’epopea di queste donne, che facevano un lavoro “da maschi”, raccontando una forma di emancipazione orizzontale nata dalla fatica quotidiana. Attraverso le ultime testimonianze viventi (tutte tra i 92 e i 100 anni), “Fora pal Mont” svela come il peso della sussistenza si sia trasformato in un atto di libertà discreto ma incisivo: donne che hanno inconsapevolmente sfidato i confini di una società patriarcale, riportando tra le vette il soffio di una modernità intravista nelle città. Non una rivoluzione proclamata, ma una storia di resistenza che trasforma la memoria subalterna in un’eredità collettiva, restituendo voce e dignità a chi ha spostato il mondo, anche se solo un passo alla volta.

Valcellina, early 20th century: a land of isolation where the mountains yielded nothing and destiny seemed defined by poverty. Yet, against this harsh backdrop, hundreds of women undertook a silent but radical journey, pushing wooden carts fora pal mont—out of the mountains—towards the plains and cities they had never seen. They were the sedonere—peddlers by necessity who, braving treacherous roads and the elements, brought back to the valley not only earnings but also a new perspective on the world. The documentary reconstructs the epic story of these women, who performed “men’s work,” recounting a form of grassroots emancipation born of daily toil. Through the accounts of the last surviving witnesses (all aged between 92 and 100), Fora pal Mont reveals how the burden of survival transformed into an act of freedom—quiet yet profound. These women unwittingly challenged the boundaries of a patriarchal society, bringing back to the mountain peaks a breath of the modernity they had glimpsed in the cities. It is not a proclaimed revolution, but a story of resilience that turns a marginalized history into a collective legacy, restoring a voice and dignity to those who moved the world—even if only one step at a time.

Lorena Trevisan esordisce alla regia con Fora pal mont. Di origine friulana, dopo esperienze attoriali si avvicina al documentario con uno sguardo attento alla memoria orale, alla dimensione storica e sociale delle vicende narrate e alla valorizzazione di un patrimonio culturale poco raccontato.

Lorena Trevisan makes her directorial debut with Fora pal mont. Of Friulian origin, and following a background in acting, she turned to documentary filmmaking with a keen focus on oral history, the historical and social dimensions of the stories told, and the promotion of a little-known cultural heritage.

Michele Pastrello è un regista di origine veneziana e un autore indipendente. I suoi corti e medi, tra sperimentazione, finzione e documentario, sono stati presentati in festival italiani e internazionali, tra cui Pifan, Noir in Festival, Future Film Festival, NuoviMondiFestival e Tirana Film Fest. Ha ricevuto riconoscimenti al PHFFest, al ToHorror, al Tuscia Fest, all’Open Festival 2023, al MeetFilmFestival. Nel 2025 ha ottenuto un premio speciale Codacons per 5 Donne, un docu sulla vita indipendente di persone con disabilità. Tra i suoi lavori più significativi figura Inmusclà, accolto dalla critica e proiettato nelle sale friulane. I suoi film intrecciano realtà e dimensione simbolica, con attenzione a memoria, identità, natura e tempo.

Michele Pastrello is an independent filmmaker and writer of Venetian origin. His short and medium-length films—spanning experimental, fiction, and documentary genres—have been screened at Italian and international festivals, including PiFan, Noir in Festival, Future Film Festival, NuoviMondiFestival, and Tirana Film Fest. He has received accolades at PHFFest, ToHorror, Tuscia Fest, Open Festival 2023, and MeetFilmFestival. In 2025, he won a special Codacons award for 5 Donne, a documentary about the independent lives of people with disabilities. Among his most notable works is Inmusclà, which garnered critical acclaim and was screened in cinemas across the Friuli region. His films intertwine reality with the symbolic realm, focusing on themes of memory, identity, nature, and time.
